WESTMONT, IL - Today, IFT President Dan Montgomery released the following statement in response to the latest action in Springfield:
“Senate Bill 1 is a historic opportunity to do what is right for students in every district, giving them the resources they need to succeed. Governor Rauner, with the stroke of his pen, chose to continue inequities in school funding across the state, picking winners and losers between districts. We thank the Senate today for overriding Rauner’s veto, which would have long-term negative effects on all our schools. We urge the House to grasp this moment in Illinois history, to finally do right by our children statewide and to override the Rauner veto when it convenes on Wednesday.”
