March 4 was a day of action for public education and our students. That night, President Donald Trump delivered an address to Congress that was more propaganda than fact. Both events remind us of what is at stake as chaotic cuts to government agencies threaten public education, scientific research, and more.

Lisa Quandt, who has dedicated 30 years to supporting students with disabilities in Belleville, was Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski’s (IL-13) guest that evening. She made the trip to Washington D.C. with Rep. Budzinski and IFT Secretary-Treasurer Cyndi Oberle-Dahm to stand up for public education at a time when it’s being attacked and undermined by those in power. Watch Lisa and Rep. Budzinski talk about why special education funding is critical and then take a look below at Lisa’s interview on CNN from later in the week!

Thank you to Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski for this opportunity! We're so proud of Belleville Federation of Teachers, Local 434, member Lisa Quandt for representing the important work that our members do for students and communities every day. We are fighting for the future of public education – together.
