WESTMONT - The Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) is proud to announce its endorsed candidates in the November 5 General Election.
“The candidates endorsed by the IFT are champions for public education and public services, as demonstrated by their support for issues critical to our members, particularly PreK-16 public education, opposition to vouchers, and the improvement of Tier 2 pensions,” said IFT President Dan Montgomery. “Each one is committed to pioneering policies that promise a fair and equitable Illinois for all."
The endorsements are the result of the union’s robust, democratic review process, which includes candidate questionnaires and surveys, regional discussions, and thorough consideration by board members. IFT’s Executive Board is comprised of elected individuals who represent our diverse local unions statewide.
IFT members work across the state to support the union’s endorsed candidates. Their efforts include door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and member-to-member texting. IFT volunteers engage directly with fellow members and other voters to discuss candidates and the issues impacting our communities. This approach mobilizes our members through personalized communications from trusted messengers.
“On behalf of the IFT membership, we are committed to supporting these candidates to secure their elections and uphold our shared values of preserving democracy, in which every individual and community can thrive,” added Montgomery.
