Do you know an outstanding educator or PSRP who deserves recognition?

Updated: May 19, 2021

Nominations are now open for ISBE’s 2022 Teacher of the Year and Those Who Excel awards

During the last year, the IFT understands that our members have worked harder than ever to provide high-quality instruction and student services under challenging circumstances. You can help ensure that outstanding educators and PSRPs receive well-deserved recognition for their efforts by nominating a colleague for one of ISBE’s 2022 awards programs!

Each year, ISBE’s Teacher of the Year program recognizes the best of the teaching profession in Illinois. All public and nonpublic preK-12 educators in Illinois with more than five years of teaching experience are eligible to be nominated. The top nominees from eight regions are designated as Regional Teachers of the Year; the Illinois Teacher of the Year is selected from that cohort. ISBE also recognizes Bilingual, Early Childhood, and Special Education Teachers of the Year. The Outstanding Early Career Educator award is presented to the top teacher in Illinois with one-four years of teaching experience.

Nomination deadline extended until July 1.

ISBE’s annual Those Who Excel award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to Illinois's public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools. Awards are presented in five categories, including student support personnel and educational service personnel. Eligible recipients include classroom aides, cafeteria workers, custodians, bus drivers, school nurses, counselors, and more. Nominations are scored by a panel of judges.

Application deadline extended until July 1.
